FRIENDS OF AYLESBURY VALE ACADEMY

Fava is the Academy's parent teacher association and is an active and vital part of life at Aylesbury Vale Academy. Our aim is to organise events at which parents can have an enjoyable time whilst raising money for the Academy.

We are the Academy's social committee - fun raisers not just fund raisers!

Help Needed: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

FAVA are once again getting involved with the school production by making the costumes needed. If you can supply material or sewing skills please get in touch. Contact us on fava@theacademy.me or leave your details at the Academy Reception. We hope to have a ‘sewing day’ in the new year at the Academy to get everything done and would welcome all sewing machines and stitchers!

Christmas Party Night Report

On Tuesday 6th December we had a Party Night for Years 7, 8 & 9. We hope that those that came along had a great night dancing to Phil Grant’s Disco. Well done to those students who won the Limbo and dancing competitions. There was also much interest in the tombola and most of those who came along took a prize home with them. FAVA made £127 on the night, which will go towards helping the Academy and students.

Latest News– Monday 31st October

Recycling Collection

The next recycling is on Friday 4th November so get your bags to us by 9am on the 4th or email us and we will arrange to collect from you.

Games Workshop After School Club

The club has moved to Thursdays 3.05pm to 4.10pm. The club has been entered into the Schools League Competition taking place on 11th February, so club members are busy preparing their armies and practicing for the tournament.

Nearly New Uniform

We hold some items of uniform for resale. To see if we have what you need email us at fava@theacademy.me and we will get back to you. Also if we can swap outgrown uniform for a bigger size we will consider this.

Please also donate uniform to us if it has become too small for your child or they no longer need it. At this time, when money is tight for everyone, this is a service that many parents very much appreciate.

Don't forget - FAVA can be found on Facebook

how you can help

» Fundraising
» Join Us

FAVA is run by parents for the benefit of the pupils and the Academy. It relies on help from volunteers. There are a number of ways you can be invloved:

First and foremost support the events and activities!

  • Join the Committee
Commitee members are elected each year at the AGM in October.
  • Become a Helper
The Committee maintains a database of parents/guardians/staff who have volunteered to help at events if called on. Put your name down on our 'Helpers List' - you may be called on one day!
  • Contacts
Please tell the Committee if you have any contacts for obtaining discounts or supplies of goods and services that may be useful to FAVA and so minimise expenditure e.g. advertising services, drinks and catering, entertainers, raffle prizes etc.
  • New Ideas
We always need new ideas so if you have been to successful events elsewhere which you think would suit FAVA or have ideas for other methods to raise money for the Academy let us know.

If you would like to contribute in any of the above ways please email us at fava@theacademy.me.

Fundraising

Recycling - Item Donations Required

  • Mobile phones & Jewellery – gold, silver, costume, broken watches, odd ear-rings – these can be sent into the Academy and left at Student Reception.

Text Giving

You can now make a donation to us by text. If you're unable to attend our events why not make a donation to us instead. It's very easy to do and you can donate £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10. Just text FAVA11 (then the amount) to 70070
