Extra-Curricular Activity

The Xtras programme is a new extra-curricular activity programme which offers a wide variety of activities/clubs for students at the Academy to get involved in. The clubs are run throughout the week after school.
A timetable can be found below, and more detail on the activities can be found here (or click on the any activity name on the timetable and this will navigate to further information).
Interested students are asked to advise their form tutor of their preferred activity.
Feedback on the activities is encouraged via College Councils.

Games Club - Mon/Tue/Fri
12.30pm - 1.10pm
The Games Club runs every week on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday lunchtime.
The club is open to everyone to get involved with literacy- based games, including Junior Scrabble and Bananagrams, and has been hugely successful so far.
Youth Cafe - Monday
3.00pm - 5.00pm
Aylesbury Vale Academy is proud to host the Aylesbury Vale Youth for Christ Youth Cafe where young people are offered the opportunity to hang out, listen to music and get involved in numerous creative activities including sport, computer games and pool.

Homework Club - Mon - Thurs
3.00pm - 4.00pm (Mr Burns)
Our homework club has been set up to support students with one-off homework issues or students who may need to use PC resources for their homework.
Regular liaison with subject teachers ensures the correct support is provided.
ICT Catch Up Classes - Tuesday
3.00pm - 4.00pm (Mr Counter)
These will be run after school for Year 11 students.
Chess Club - Tuesday
3.00pm - 4.00pm (Mr Kennedy)
A fully functioning chess club for all ages and abilities!
A chance to learn a new skill or become a grand master... as a student or teacher.
On Tuesdays there will be tuition and coaching available as well as games, competitions and chess puzzles available.
Animation Club - Tuesday
5.00pm - 7.00pm (Mr Arnold)
This workshop, focusing on 'Wallace and Gromit' style model animation, is where students can learn the basics in stop motion, taking them from storyboards, building models, armatures and sets through to shooting their films and editing.
Dance Club - Wednesday 3.15pm - 4.15pm (Mrs Hawkins)
For Years 7, 8 and 9.
Games Workshop Club - Thursday
3.00pm - 4.00pm (Mr Rose)
Where students can paint game figures, design buildings, then play tabletop wargames. The club has been
entered into the Schools League Competition taking place on 11th February 2012. Club members are busy preparing their armies and practicing for the tournament.
Choir - Friday
3.00pm - 4.00pm
(Mr Dimond)
The extremely successful Academy choir has opened its doors to all students. The choir enjoy singing a mixture of genre and styles including show tunes, pop music, and gospel (to name a few).
