sNOWDONIA CHARITY CHALLENGE - June 12
staff aim to raise funds for regain - the trust for sport tetraplegics
Four members of staff including Mr Poland, Mr Bacon, Miss Hennessey and our very own Principal Mr Johnson are taking on an extremely tough triathlon-style event on the 12th June, where they will be required to cycle 40 miles, climb Snowdon and canoe a lake course.
The challenge starts in the heart of Snowdonia in Llanberis where the team will set off on the first leg of a 40-mile circular cycling route around Mt. Snowdon (including approximately 2.5 miles offroad on rough track). Along the way they must summit Snowdon itself and canoe a course on Llyn (Lake) Gwynant before returning to the start/finish point in Llanberis.
All funds raised support the charity REGAIN, the only organisation dedicated solely to supporting men and women who become tetraplegic (severely paralysed) as the result of a sporting accident including riding, diving, cycling and rugby injuries.
If you would like to show you support, please contact Mr Poland via email at apoland@bucksgfl.org.uk who will provide you with further information.
Full details of the event can be found here.

SKYITL working hard for charity
SKYITL CHARITY SET TO CLIMB mT sNOWDON june 19
Report by Gareth Whyley, Year 12.
SKYITL is a charity group set up by ten students from the Aylesbury Vale Academy. We aim to raise money for The Thomas Ball Children’s Cancer Fund. We also want to show the local community that they do not fit into the stereotype of teenagers. SKYITL hope to continue raising money for the next couple of years and we hope that you can help.
SKYITL have already raised money which helped with a project to give Children a more enjoyable stay over the Christmas period while being in hospital. With the money that we raised from the sponsored walk went into donating presents to the Children.
SKYITL have already started fundraising and decided on some future events. We did a sponsored walk from the Academy to Wendover Woods and back, totalling 22 miles.Doing this raised approximately £850.
We are currently serving refreshments at the parents and open evenings within the academy. This is an ongoing event that will continue to make us money. SKYITL are also planning to hold & attend other events within the vale.
SKYITL are now hoping to climb Mt. Snowdon on 19th June 2010 to raise more money for The Thomas Ball Childrens Cancer Fund.
