Lionheart Challenge Overall Champions

On Tuesday, 08 February 2011, our Year 10 students took part in "The Lionheart Challenge" which is about creating and developing new ideas for a product or service.  During the day, students learned how to work as a team, brainstorm, discuss customer needs, review and analyse, how to develop a financial plan and market the product.

Students were divided into Teams of between 10-14, working with peers they had never worked with before and of mixed ability. Each student received their own Student Project Diary which had a series of Target Outcomes and Key Learning Outcomes.  They were guided through each process by the Lionheart Challenge Business Coaches.

Throughout the morning they had to develop and market their product and were judged on their Financial Plan, Team Skills and Marketing capabilities.  During the afternoon, they delivered their presentation to a panel of three judges, giving a summary of their product and financial plan.

The winning product was announced as a Baby Blanket which changed colour according to the body temperature, thus alerting the parent of possible problems.  The Company who came up with this product, will now compete in a Regional Final which will take place in July.

Business Coaches and Judges were immensely impressed with the skills students demonstrated throughout the day, ie communication, team working, problem solving, to name but a few.
