new pshee program

kidulthood to adulthood

Spring 2011

As part of the PSHEE program, students from year 8 upwards will be studying a unit called 'Kidulthood to Adulthood'. The unit focuses on the choices they may have to make as they are growing up, and asks them to examine the consequences of these choices. This will enable them to make informed and mature decisions. Within this unit, students will be taught a series of lessons on sexual health and contraception, exploring attitudes and opinions, and comparing them directly against medical and legal facts.

We encourage parents / carers to discuss what has been learnt at school with their child in order to help them to develop their own informed view about the topics being studied.

If as a parent or carer you have any concerns about the content of these lessons, please feel free to contact Mr Johnson (Principal) who will be happy to provide further information.

We do understand that there are some lessons you may wish to withdraw your child from for this subject, and you have the legal right to do so. If you wish to withdraw your child from these lessons please complete and return the slip at the bottom of this letter by 1st April to your child's tutor.

For your information the Academy's Sex and Relationships Policy can be found here.
