SkillForce at Avondale Care Home

Regular visits to the residents by Year 11

School Care Home Visit
13 December 2011

Over the autumn term, some of the SkillForce Year 11 students have been regularly visiting Avondale Care home on Thursday afternoons. The students have been getting involved by chatting to residents, playing the Wii, as well as various card games, board games and other general acts of kindness.

More recently, the students helped prepare the lounges with Christmas decorations and this Thursday they helped serve drinks and mince pies at a residents' 100th birthday party.

The residents really cherish the time and conversation that the students bring and it is great to see the students growing in confidence and stature each week as they become more involved.

It is exciting to see character developing in the students by their contributions in the community, alongside adding to their leadership and communication skill set.
