Year 13 Trip to the Tate
6 December 2011
As part of the BTEC Art and Design course, the Year 13 students visited the Anthropologie and Tate Modern in London on Friday 2nd December.
It was a great opportunity to experience artwork both in a commercial and gallery setting. The trip also directly related to the student's current project which focuses on designing artwork for the shop Anthropologie and enabled them to draw from experience.
Megan speaking about the experience at the Tate Modern, London:
"It was inspiring, different. Good to have a first-hand experience rather than relying on the internet or pictures. When you see it (art) in person, you can see how it's made. Makes it inspiring."
- Megan Spurrier
Hannah speaking about her experience at both the Tate Modern and Anthropologie:
"It was intriguing. Nice to be able to receive primary research rather than secondary. It was enjoyable. I didn't expect the plants on the wall to be real, I expected them to be fake." (With regards to the 'Living Wall' made entirely of plants, located at the store Anthropologie, in London.)
- Hannah Jones
Photos of the Anthropologie trip can be seen on the gallery page.
