Welcome Back
21 September 2011
Dear Parent/Carer
I write to welcome you and your children to the start of a new year at the Aylesbury Vale Academy.
During Mr Johnson’s period of absence, I have taken over the day to day lead with a strong Senior Leadership team working alongside me. This consists of Mr David Burns (Associate Vice Principal), Ms Renuka Watal (Associate Vice Principal) and Mr Gren Earney (Associate Headteacher). Ms Watal is covering for Ms Elliott who is on Adoption Leave for a year. Mr Earney is with us for three days a week providing additional support to the Academy. They are both very experienced and highly committed to raising standards and opportunities and have quickly got to know the Academy, working with all staff to support the learning experiences of all students.
We are delighted with our summer results. Our Sixth Form achieved 70.5% A*-A grades at A Level or equivalent with a greater number of students going on to University.
Our GCSE results (5 A*-C including English and Maths) increased by 50% to 38%. These results are a clear indication that we are on an upward trend and this year we are working hard to exceed the current target.
We are fully staffed with specialist teachers in all subjects and have already begun a planned series of activities and interventions to support all students.
The new build is set for a September 2013 opening. This is exciting for all Academy staff and students as we move towards that date. We will shortly be having a drop-in evening to allow you to view the plans for yourselves.
I would like to reassure you that it is very much business as usual at the Academy. As a staff, we consider ourselves very much a family and your children are at the centre of all that we do in our community. We welcome visits and opportunities for you to see for yourselves the positive ethos and successes.
We look forward to your continued co-operation and support as we start this very exciting year.
Yours sincerely
MRS F FROMENT
Acting Principal
