Year 10 Options

In Years 10 and 11 at Aylesbury Vale Academy, students prepare for qualifications in Diplomas, GCSE’s and BTEC’s.  All students follow a broad, balanced and relevant programme of study, which includes the core subjects and a range of additional subjects.

THE CORE SUBJECTS

All students take these subjects to full course GCSE:-

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science

All students will also follow programmes of study in the core:-

  • Citizenship – (Short Course GCSE)
  • Physical Education
  • Religious Studies – (Short Course GCSE)
  • ICT – (OCR National)

ADDITIONAL SUBJECTS

As far as is possible, we try to ensure that students get their first choices. The process of choosing subjects will be explained at the Options Evening. The College LPPM, Tutors and Career Advisor will help students to choose wisely, taking into account each student's aptitudes, interests and perhaps choice of career. The interim report issued in January should help your son/daughter to make an informed choice for study in KS4.

More detail can be found in our Options booklet (here) which will help Year 9 students to prepare wisely for the next two years. If you have any questions, the staff at the school will be only too willing to help.

The deadline for returns to student's Form Tutors is Monday, 20 February 2012.
