The school is well staffed and has been able to attract professional and experienced people to lead and implement the first phase of its development.  As a growing school we expect to need to recruit staff regularly over the coming years.  As well as requiring specific experience and qualifications for individual roles, we expect all staff to have a high standard of English and mathematics, and to share our commitment to ensuring that every child makes the maximum progress in both academic learning and personal development.  All new staff are subject to full reference checks and will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to ensure that they are suitable to work with children.  Most vacancies will be advertised on this page, as well as in local and, where appropriate, national forums.

We welcome requests for volunteering in school, from those who simply wish to contribute to the growing sense of community in and around the school and academy, and from those seeking school experience prior to applying for jobs or training.  Volunteers can be deployed on an occasional basis or can assist specific classes or activities more regularly.  As part of the vetting process for volunteering, those who may have close or regular contact with pupils will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to ensure that they are suitable to work with children.   Our expectations for visitors and volunteers are laid out in an information leaflet which can be dowloaded below.

We are currently looking for a high-calibre individual to work in our school in Key Stage 1 or 2 for afternoon sessions from Monday to Friday.  The role involves undertaking catch-up interventions with groups of pupils or working as a one-to-one assistant for an individual pupil who require higher levels of support.

The post represents a unique opportunity to work closely with pupils and teachers to help raise achievement and support pupil well-being and engagement.

    About Us

The school opened in September 2013, and has had children in all year groups from Nursery to Year 6 for the first time this September.  We are highly aspirational for our pupils and our distinctive, story-telling curriculum and focus on creativity enables our pupils to make very good progress.

The school forms part of an all-through academy with the Aylesbury Vale Academy (secondary school).  We are a Church of England School, are sponsored jointly by the Oxford Diocese and Buckinghamshire County Council and have community facilities and a children’s centre on site.  A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children is essential and we expect all our staff to share our desire to serve the people of Berryfields and to help build a community that enables our children and their families to be the very best they can.

    About the Role

Our Learning Support Assistants work in a variety of ways, supporting teachers or working more directly with pupils on an individual or small group basis, and are highly focused on ensuring that pupils make excellent progress and achieve well.

    The posts provides:

    • an opportunity to work alongside teachers in preparing, delivering and assessing the curriculum.
    • an opportunity to take independent responsibility for individual pupil’s or groups’ learning and well-being.
    • the opportunity to work with children from a diversity of family contexts from nursery to Year 6 within the school and for partnership working with the adjoining secondary school and other local primary schools.
    • a commitment to professional development and potential scope for career progression as the school grows and within the through-academy.  This includes opportunities to develop practice and skills by working closely with colleagues and school leaders.
    • a pleasant working environment with high quality resources and well planned provision, working within a supportive and collaborative team.
    About You

Experience of working with children in a school or similar on a paid or voluntary basis is essential.

We want our pupils to be the best, so it is essential that the successful candidates can provide a model of communication, language and numeracy skills.  These should be reflected in high expectations of themselves and others as well as in good GCSE’s or at least a relevant level 2 qualifications.

If you are a hardworking, team player with a desire to improve outcomes for all children, we would love to hear from you.  You should be able to follow direction, but will also need to work with initiative and discretion.  You will have high degrees of resilience and flexibility and will be able to contribute to our school’s positive ethos.

    Other Information

The deadline for applications is 15 December 2017 and interviews will take place later that week or as soon as possible thereafter.
