Road Safety/Sustainable Travel
Information for Students, Parents and Schools developed by the Sustainable Travel and Road Safety Teams at Transport for Buckinghamshire:
Oxford Brookes University- Unipod Resource
Oxford Brookes University has developed the Unipod, a resource pack and website about higher education for students, teachers and Parents/Carers.
Unipod provides information and advice to help young people make decisions about university covering topics such as choosing a course, writing personal statements and student finance.
Oxford Brooks University has developed a website for students and parents/carers to access information directly at www.unipodadvice.com.
ucas - a short introduction
An important part of a students UCAS application is their Personal Statement.
Students have been provided with a Personal Statement pack, which gives guidance on how to plan and write a Personal Statement. A UCAS Guide for Parents has also been provided. Further copies of these guides are available if required.
This is one of the most important decisions a student will ever make and there is plenty of information and guidance available to help make the right decision.
Students, Parents and Carers are encouraged to visit the UCAS website on www.ucas.ac.uk where the application process is explained in detail. If you would like the UCAS application explained in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs E Perrin, Post-16 and Student Progression Manager at the Academy on 01296 428551.
ucas - information for university applicants
The following advice is for Post-16 students who have applied for university places:
Reminder to Students Regarding Decisions
Universities send their application decisions at different times. As all our Post-16 UCAS applications were in by 15 January 2012, students will hear from all their choices by 10 May 2012. Decisions from universities and colleges can be seen on the online Track service. Please use this service and the important dates page for more information.
Course Fees
It is important that students are aware of the course fees they will be charged for the courses they are applying to. This information is provided by institutions and is visible through Course Search. It is particularly important that students check the financial implications of moving between countries in the UK and that they obtain up-to-date information. Please ensure that students take the time to look at this information together with the general information about student finance on the UCAS website.
Invitations for interviews, auditions, additional essays or tests
Students are reminded to make their replies to invitations as quickly as possible.
A university or college is able to send invitations to applicants online through Track. They have an opportunity to accept, decline, or request an alternative time and date. If they need to change the date they should log in to their applications in Track and go to the Choices page to request an alternative date. They need to liaise direct with the university or college for a new date or time.
Students will receive notification that a change has occurred on their application and should be vigilant in replying to the invitation as soon as possible. In Track, they should go to Choices, click on the course code and the opportunity to reply to their invitation decision will be available.
ACTION REQUIRED
Students are reminded to reply as soon as they can, or by the specified time where given as part of the offer by the university or college. If they don’t reply, for whatever reason, the offer could be withdrawn.
