AVA students make an impression at The University of Bedfordshire

Year 10, 12 and 13 Academy students studying Physical Education and Sport were invited to the University of Bedfordshire on Tuesday 9th December. Each group had their own schedule for the day that was designed specifically for the group at this stage of their learning. All students and staff had a fantastic day (I was excited to be visiting my old university), please see below the experience of one of our GCSE PE students and comments made by other students.

On Tuesday 9th December 2014 I went on a trip with the rest of my GCSE PE classmates to the University of Bedfordshire. My views of going to university have changed completely as a consequence of this visit. This is because there are many things at university that could benefit me and could lead to me getting a good job in the future.

Before I went on the trip I didn’t want to attend university as I didn’t think the qualifications I will gain would benefit me. I  expected university to be different to what I experienced yesterday but I really enjoyed all the activities, accommodation and facilities.

During the visit we attended lectures and completed some activities. I found the lecture very useful as I learned things I didn’t know beforehand. We completed fitness tests that included measuring blood pressure, body fat percentage, hand grip strength, vital capacity and maximum power  output. We also had a tour of the    facilities and finished the day by completing a poster having researched lots of different resource (books, lecture notes and videos).

I got a really good picture of what university life would be like and it is   something that I would like to experience as I now believe it would benefit my life in many ways.
