Christmas Cake Club

Eleven students proudly took home their Christmas cakes that they had been working on after school on Tuesday for the last six weeks. The Academy funded the ingredients and provided the minibus to ferry the students home with cakes in decorated boxes.

We had a great time as we weighed and mixed our ingredients and laughed as cake mix flew across the kitchen due to over enthusiastic beating with the whisk on full power.

Rolling out the marzipan became a bit of a challenge; the kitchen resembled a snowstorm as someone dropped a bag of icing sugar leaving a fine layer of white on every surface.

Mrs Chambers kindly gave a demonstration on hand making decorations and the end result looked very professional.

Many thanks go to Miss Blackstock, Miss Bibi and Mrs Wright, the learning support assistants, who assisted in their own time.  Mr O’Leary for driving the mini bus and an extra special thanks to Mrs Parsons for coming in   early to bake the cakes, and without whose help the whole project could not have happened.

And of course all participants ended up with a scrummy Christmas Cake.

“ I think that the Christmas Cake Cooking Club was very exciting because we got to decorate our cakes and I had lots of fun helping my best friends and also my family members.”

“This club was great fun because we made a lovely cake, which we decorated with all types of colourful and interesting shapes and interesting shapes and Christmassy objects. This will be great to taste.”
