Performing Arts Evening

The Performing Arts evening was a huge success again this year showcasing the work of students in Year 10, 12 and 13. This years’ performance included excellent adaptations of Blood Brothers and  Billy Elliot from the Year 12 and 13 students and a fabulous performance from the Year 10 performing Frozen. There were also superb solo dances from Brandon Perry and Rueben Woodley in Year 13. To start the evening off in style we were also given a fantastic performance from Year 9 students singing several different hit songs, accompanied by Josh Patel on the piano. Josh then went on to perform a solo piece later on in the show. The evening once again demonstrated what a huge array of talent there is here at The Aylesbury Vale Academy and how passionate our students are of the arts based subjects.

A huge thank you to Miss O’Neil and Miss Sparrow for the energy and enthusiasm you give to your students and preparing them so well for the evening.

Our next big performance will be a production of CATS which we will be putting on in July. Dates still to be confirmed.

Mr Hallam, Curriculum Leader, Performing Arts

Rueben Woodley Year 13: “This was my last performing arts evening. I have come along way since I started the performing arts courses in 2011, and I have learnt so much. I have also loved working with the other students in my      classes who are all so talented. I have made so many friends who I would love to have in my life forever. During the production I enjoyed performing my solo piece and the ballet piece based on Billy Elliot. I will miss everyone and everything about performing arts.”

Conor Brewer Year 12: “Being on stage made me nervous at first but after 5 minutes the nerves went away. I loved every minute of it!! Bring on CATS!”

Clive Davis Year 12: " One of the best performances we have done. We were all filled with energy and confidence." I played a number of roles during Blood Brothers performance. The main role I had was the character Eddie during act 4 and 5 and really enjoyed playing him. We also participated in a dance piece based on Billy Elliot.  Despite a few errors during the piece we kept focus and acted professionally.”

Jameika Roberts Year 12: “I enjoyed my first performing arts evening whilst in the 6th form, we really pulled together to produce an amazing performance. The highlight of the night was the solos performed by peers Brandon Perry and Rueben Woodley. Their dance  solos were very technical and emotional. For both boys it was their last performing arts evening here at the academy.”

Sofina Rose Year 12: “The Performing arts evening was great! It went really well and all of our hard work paid off. Blood Brothers was amazing and was such fun. I loved working with my peers and the dance solos by Rueben and Brandon were excellent. I love my performing arts family!”
