Activate Dance Festival

Activate is a popular showcase with performances by young people from across Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire and the wide South East area. Over 150 young people perform a range of dance styles from contemporary to street dance and everything in between.

This year was the 3rd year that the academy has taken part in this exciting event. Seven year 12 and 13 students took part, performing a piece that they had been working on in their lesson time. The unit of work was ‘choreographing Dance’ (BTEC Level 3 diploma).

The day consists of a Technical rehearsal on stage with the lighting and sound team, then onto a full dress rehearsal will all the acts, finishing off with the final performance at 7pm. The students experience a very well organized and professional show, learning and developing many skills that will take them further in their performing arts journey.

The students performed a very grown up sensitive piece which included group work, solo, and duet work. They showcased many different styles of dance including  breaking, contemporary, locking and popping and ballet.

These students are a credit to the Academy, they behaved in a professional manner both on and off stage. The final performance was confident and strong, showing that their hard work, dedication and passion for dance had paid off.

I was very proud of them. They received very positive  feedback from other group members and also from the audience.
