YEAR 5 HOME LEARNING
FRIDAY 18 FEBRUARY 2022- HOME LEARNING
Please find the work set below for Year 5's Remote Learning. We are sad that we didn't get to wish the children Happy Half Term, but we look forward to hearing all about it on Tuesday 1st March!
English - next half term, our Topic (coincidentally) is Extreme Weather. We will be linking this to Newspaper Report writing. Please write your COLD WRITE - a newspaper article on an extreme weather event. You could write about Storm Eunice - to find out more about the storm before writing, watch Newsround. Please bring in your Cold Write after half term (Tuesday 1st March) so your teacher can mark it. As it is a newspaper article, think about: how you will structure your writing / how you will paragraph / will you write formally or informally?
Maths - use your My Maths log in to complete the activities set. Once finished, please spend a bit of time on TT Rockstars - get those levels up!
Choice Activity - EITHER produce a poster which shows your understanding from our Earth and Space lessons OR produce a poster which shows your understanding from our Anglo-Saxons lessons.
Please bring all work in with you on Tuesday 1st March - we can't wait to see what you do!
Have a safe and happy half term!
The Year 5 Team
The following contains videos to watch, along with activities to complete.
We would like one English, one Maths and one other (of your choice) to be completed each day whilst you are at home.
This is a unit of learning looking at Biographical Writing. Work through the video for each lesson (one a day) and complete the activities as directed.
This is a unit of learning exploring Addition and Subtraction. Work through the video for each lesson (one a day) and complete the activities as directed.
This is a unit of learning exploring Space. Work through the video for each lesson and complete the activities as directed.
This half term, the Year 5 topic is Anglo Saxons.
Using Kiddle (the children’s search engine), please complete your own research on:
- Who were the Anglo-Saxons?
- What jobs did Anglo-Saxons have?
- What was life like for Anglo-Saxons?
- Any other interesting facts about the Anglo-Saxons.
- Please remember to read every day – try to read aloud to an adult and make sure you understand what you are reading. You should also look up any words you don’t understand in your reading.
- Practice your times tables using TT Rockstars!
