Moving into Year 1

Transition Day 2020 for children moving into Year 1

Welcome to Year 1. We are so excited you will be joining us in September. We hope you enjoy exploring the resources we have put on the website today and have fun completing the activities we have prepared for you. On this page you will find...

A "Welcome to Year 1" leaflet to read...

...this will give you some information about what it will be like in Year 1. We can't tell you everything  but we have tried to tell you some things we think will help you. We will of course look after you in September so you don't need to be anxious. All the adults in Year 1 are very friendly and we are here to help you, so we will be happy to answer any questions you have when you start in your new class.

A "Favourite Stories Quiz"...

...Mrs Haydon and Miss Pickett both really like stories, why not challenge yourself and see if you can guess their favourite books!

A "things that make me happy" activity sheet to complete...

...in Year 1 we like to be happy and this activity sheet will help us get to know what makes you happy. Please complete this sheet and bring it into school on your first day in September.

An "All about me activity sheet" to complete...

... Mrs Haydon, Miss Pickett, Mrs Bowles and Mrs Benson are keen to get to know you. Please complete this sheet and bring it into school on your first day in September and we will make a display so we can all get to know each other.

and finally... we would like to set you a challenge....

  •  Can you find out all about your class animal? You will find 1 fact about your animal in the "Welcome to Year 1" leaflet but we think you can find out some more! Can you find out some more facts about either a Puma or a Tiger and bring them with you in September. You may even want to draw your class animal and make a poster of your facts. We can't wait to see what you discover.

We hope you have a fun Transition day!!

With lots of kind wishes Mrs Haydon, Miss Pickett, Mrs Bowles and Mrs Benson.
