Week 7 - wc 4 May 2020

Welcome Year 5 to Week 7!

Good morning Year 5!

As always, we hope you and your families are keeping safe and well!

This week, we have both been busy getting to know and understand the new way we will be setting homework! We hope you will find it more accessible and, as always, we would love to see any work you complete at: year5enquries@theacademy.me

Maths

We are pleased to see that some of you are now using MyMaths regularly. Your work for next week is set on there once again, so make sure you log in to see it. We have published all 4 tasks to show on Monday, so you can work on them when you can. If you can't remember your log-in, or are having trouble accessing the site, please email and we will do our best to help. The work set this week finishes off our fractions, decimals and percentages unit. Remember to work through the lesson provided first, before completing the tasks, so the methods are clear.

PiXL Times Tables40% of Year 5 accessed the PiXL times tables app last week, which is an improvement on the previous week. However, every single one of you should be using it, even if it is for 5 or 10 minutes once or twice a week. If you can't remember your log-in, or are having trouble accessing the site, please email and we will do our best to help.

Reading

Remember to read every day, for at least 5 minutes. If you have run out of reading material, there are many free books available online for you to download and read.

English, Guided Reading, Science, Topic, Art, RE and PSHCE

The work for these subjects are accessible through Show My Homework this week. If you can't remember your log-in, or are having trouble accessing the site, please email and we will do our best to help. The PSHCE work is linked to VE Day, and will not show on SMHW until Friday and is completely optional.

VE Day Celebrations / PSHCE

This Friday is a Bank Holiday to mark the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. We would like you to take a day off from work and think about heroes, from history and from now. Berryfields Parish Council is also running a competition for the best VE Day decorated house, so we want you to get creative! Make bunting, Union Jack flags, hero posters... anything to help our community celebrate VE Day from the safety of our homes! As always, we want to see! year5enquiries@theacademy.me

Year 5, we continue to be super proud of your resilience during these difficult times! Hearing from you really does lift our spirits too - and your effort only increases our pride! We hope to hear from lots of you this week!

Work hard, and enjoy the Bank Holiday with your family!

Stay safe and be kind, always!
