"My role as Achievement Director is to support and guide each student as they develop new skills and confidence as a secondary school student. This will focus mainly on the transition from year 6 to year 7. It is also to oversee their academic attainment and challenge them to meet or exceed their target grades.
This role will be supported Pastoral Support Miss S Porter. They will be working alongside me to help support your child’s transition into the academy. Together we will monitor individual and subject progress to ensure as many interventions can be put in place as and when required to ensure every child is supported and making good progress throughout the year".
Assistant Achievement Director - Mr N O'Leary
Pastoral Support - Miss S Porter
SLT Link - Mr B Lee
Each morning your child will see their tutor who is their first port of call for any support they may need. The tutor is responsible for monitoring the student’s attendance, behaviour, achievement, uniform and equipment. Their weekly tutor programme will cover the Thought for the Week, Assembly, Numeracy and Literacy projects, equipment/planner check and achievement point record."
During the first few weeks at the Academy Students will be offered and encouraged to sign up to a selection of enrichment clubs to extend learning outside the classroom during lunchtime and after school. These are all free and can also be treated as drop in sessions, so it does not matter if they miss a few they will always be welcome.
During the first 2 weeks of term tutor groups will be looking to select their form reps for Student council and Enrichment. So your child should be thinking about how they would represent the views of their peers and consider what would make them stand out over the rest of the class.
The Year 7 School Council is an essential role undertaken by two representatives from each form group. Throughout the year they will meet with Miss Porter and myself to discuss various topics. Two of our Council will also be part of the Academy Council, they will be charged with the task of sharing the views of Year 7 amongst representatives of Year 8 through to Year 13.
