Year 7 Information
We hope you and family are well in these challenging times.
We are disappointed that we cannot carry out our usual Transition timetable. We do however hope the following plans give you an opportunity to prepare for your child’s Transition to hopefully start at Aylesbury Vale Academy on Thursday 3rd September 2020, pending Government advice. You will be notified of these details in due course.
You will be receiving a letter through the post this week with an appointment date and time.
One to One Appointment
All students will be invited in for a one to one appointment on either, 6th, 7th or 8th of July 20 in which you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s form tutor and ask any questions that you may have. You can also meet Mrs Jefford and Mrs Dutson if you have any concerns regarding SEND.
These appointments will last 30 mins. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances that we are in, only the student and one parent/carer can attend this meeting. Procedures will also be in place to ensure we are following the current Government advice regarding Social distancing.
Please also bring your child’s birth certificate or Passport to this meeting and any outstanding forms that are required to be returned.
On Thursday 9th July we will also be holding a uniform fitting day in the Main Hall. You should have received information regarding this directly from the school uniform shop. These appointments must be booked through the school uniform shop and not directly with the school.

Year 7 Achievement Director: Mrs A Lloyd
I am very much looking forward to meeting you all and welcoming you to Aylesbury Vale Academy.
Starting Secondary school is an exciting yet very important chapter of a child life and I would like to support your child as much as possible in this Transition.
My role is to support and guide each individual student as they develop new skills and confidence as a new student at Aylesbury Vale Academy. Initially we will focus mainly on the transition from year 6 to year 7.
Throughout their time at Aylesbury Vale Academy I will oversee their academic attainment and achievement ensuring that they continue to work hard to not only reach their targets, but surpass their targets. It is also my role to ensure each students behaves in a respectful manner at all times and follows the Aylesbury Vale Academy expectations at all times.
We will also reward students who display excellent behaviour and excellent Attendance throughout the Academic year. We have a variety of reward schemes in place which students will be informed about and a large number of celebration Assemblies each term which enables us to reward students who work hard.
Year 7 students will also be supported by Pastoral Support Mrs Steedman. She will be working alongside me to help support your child’s transition into the academy. Mrs Steedman can be contacted if you have any concerns or questions. Students can also see Mrs Steedman if they have any concerns, questions or need support with anything.
Together we will monitor individual and subject progress to ensure interventions can be put in place if required and ensure that every child is supported, makes excellent progress and continue to ensure that they enjoy being a student at Aylesbury Vale Academy.
I am looking forward to the new Academic year, getting to know the students and also looking forward to meeting parents at up and coming parents evenings in the future.
