World Challenge – Borneo

Our World Challenge expedition is off to an incredible start, with students enjoying an unforgettable first few days in the stunning surroundings of Borneo.
The group has received an exceptionally warm welcome from the local people and has embraced every opportunity to experience the country's rich culture and natural beauty.
The adventure began with an orientation walk around the city of Kuching, where students visited a traditional Chinese temple, exchanged currency and familiarised themselves with their new surroundings.
One of the highlights so far has been a visit to the Semenggoh Orangutan Wildlife Centre. The group was fortunate enough to see both a male and female orangutan, as well as an adorable baby orangutan. As these magnificent animals live freely within the surrounding rainforest rather than being kept in enclosures, it was a truly special and memorable experience.
The students also explored the vibrant Kuching Food Festival, sampling a wide variety of authentic local dishes. It was fantastic to see everyone embracing the opportunity to try new flavours and experience the local cuisine.
As always, our students have been outstanding ambassadors for Aylesbury Vale Academy. Their enthusiasm, positive attitude and willingness to step outside their comfort zones have made us incredibly proud.
The next stage of the expedition now awaits as the group heads into the rainforest for an exciting three-day jungle trek. We look forward to sharing more updates from their amazing Borneo adventure!
