Yondr Phone Free Schools Programme

AVA will be introducing the Yondr Phone Free Schools Programme from Monday 2 November 2026, funded by Thames Valley Police.

The programme builds on our existing expectations that mobile phones remain switched off and out of sight during the school day and that smart watches are not permitted.

Every student will be issued with a Yondr pouch, which will be used to store mobile phones, smart watches and other smart devices during the school day. Students will lock their devices in the pouch when they arrive at school and unlock them when they leave at the end of the day. The pouch will remain with the student throughout the day.

The aim is to help create a calm, focused learning environment where students can engage fully in lessons, develop positive relationships and make the most of every opportunity during the school day.

If a device is seen outside of a Yondr pouch during the school day, it will be confiscated and consequences will be applied in line with our Rewards and Attitudes Policy.

Students who require access to a device for medically supported reasons will continue to be supported through agreed arrangements with our medical team.

Parent and Carer Information Sessions

We will be holding two information sessions for parents and carers to explain the programme in more detail:

Places must be booked in advance. Parents and carers wishing to attend should complete the relevant sign-up form for their chosen session.

We would like to thank parents and carers for their continued support in helping us maintain high standards and the best possible learning environment for all students.
