AVA House Computing Challenge – Code, Create, Compete!

The Computing Department at Aylesbury Vale Academy is excited to launch a new House Computing Challenge, giving students the opportunity to showcase their creativity, problem-solving and digital skills while earning points for their House.

This year's theme is "Technology for Good", encouraging students to think about how technology can make a positive difference to school life, learning, wellbeing or the environment.

We are inviting your child to design a digital solution based on one of the following:

  • A Scratch game
  • An app prototype
  • A website design
  • A future technology concept
  • A flowchart or algorithm
  • Digital artwork

Their ideas could focus on improving student wellbeing, supporting learning and revision, encouraging healthy lifestyles, reducing waste, helping students stay organised or making AVA an even better place to learn.

How Your Child Can Take Part

Students should submit:

  • A project title
  • A short explanation of their idea (50–100 words)
  • A screenshot, design, flowchart or working project
  • Their name, tutor group and House

Every entry will earn points towards their House.

We encourage parents and carers to discuss the challenge with their children and support them in developing their ideas. Students do not need advanced computing skills to participate – creativity, imagination and enthusiasm are what matter most!

We look forward to seeing the fantastic ideas our students produce and discovering which House will become AVA's Computing Champion.

Your skills. Your ideas. Your House.

Entry deadline: Wednesday 21 October 2026.

Any questions? - please ask your child to speak to Mrs Carr (B-01-01).
