AVA House Poetry Competition – Celebrating Our Winners

A huge thank you to all students who took part in our recent House Poetry Competition. The standard of entries was outstanding, with judges particularly impressed by the creativity, thoughtfulness and quality of the poems submitted.
Every student who entered will receive 10 House Points for their contribution.
Congratulations to our winners:
- 1st Place – Ramisa K (Attenborough)
- 2nd Place – Erin F (Nightingale)
- 3rd Place – Mariacordis (Seacole)
We are delighted to share Ramisa's winning poem, inspired by the theme of unity.
Unite
A single thread is frail and slight,
A fragile strand against the night.
But woven close, the fibers braid,
A shield of iron, thickly made.
Like whispering winds that wake the wood,
We stood apart where shadows stood.
But rivers rush to meet the sea,
To drown the “I” and find the “we.”
The clockwork clicks, the gears engage,
A turning wheel, a brand new page.
For though the stones are smooth and small,
Together, they become the wall.
So hear the chorus, clear and loud,
One bright face out of the crowd.
From broken shards, a mirror clears,
To catch the hope of coming years.
Well done to everyone who participated and demonstrated what it means to unite through poetry.
