Year 8 Welcome Inspiring Visit from Sammy Angelo

Just before the Christmas break, our Year 8 students were lucky enough to enjoy a special visit from Sammy Angelo, an up‑and‑coming singer-songwriter who shared both his music and a powerful message about mental health and resilience.

Sammy performed a selection of his original songs for students, creating an engaging and memorable atmosphere in the hall. Alongside his music, he spoke openly and honestly about mental health, self-confidence and overcoming personal challenges, messages that clearly resonated with our students. The session concluded with a meet-and-greet, giving students the opportunity to ask questions, connect with Sammy and reflect on the themes he shared.

Sammy Angelo is a 24-year-old artist from St Albans whose passion for music began at a young age. He taught himself guitar at the age of 15, learning through online tutorials and dedicating himself to developing his skills. After enrolling on a creative musicianship course and later studying music production and engineering at university, Sammy built both his musical ability and confidence as a performer.

Since releasing his debut single “Love Me No More” featuring former JLS member Oritsé Williams, Sammy has gone on to collaborate with a number of well-known artists including Geko, Ayo Beatz, S1mba and A7s, establishing himself as an exciting new talent in the UK music scene.

During the visit, Sammy also shared his personal journey with alopecia, which he developed as a teenager. He spoke candidly about the impact this had on his body image and mental wellbeing, and how learning to accept himself became a turning point in his life. What could have remained a lifelong struggle instead became a source of strength, shaping his positive outlook and determination to inspire others.

Students responded extremely positively to the visit, engaging thoughtfully with the discussion and showing great respect for the openness and honesty of Sammy’s story. Many commented on how much they enjoyed the performance and how meaningful they found the message about facing adversity, resilience and self-acceptance.

We would like to thank Sammy Angelo for taking the time to visit our school and provide such an uplifting and inspiring experience for our Year 8 students.
