Duke of Edinburgh: Parent Information Meetings and Expedition Readiness

Last week, Mrs Crumpton and Miss Chony met with our Duke of Edinburgh participants and issued letters to parents and carers with details of the upcoming Bronze Award Information Meeting.
Parent Information Meetings
- Bronze: Tuesday 24 March, 6.30pm – 7.15pm
- Silver: Tuesday 14 April, 6.30pm – 7.15pm
- Gold: TBC
If you plan to attend, please can we ask that you contact the DofE team to confirm attendance.
Starting Sections Before the Expedition
Students were also reminded that their Skills, Physical or Volunteering sections must be started before their expedition.
-
Bronze participants must have completed at least one section before the expedition.
As students began in November, this is an achievable expectation, and Mrs Crumpton and Miss Chony are available to support and guide all participants.
Behaviour Expectations
Finally, students were reminded of our expectations regarding behaviour, both in school and during the expedition period. Students will be unsupervised during the expedition, so we must be confident they will represent AVA in a safe and appropriate manner.
Participation in the DofE Bronze expedition is dependent on students demonstrating high standards of behaviour. We would be grateful if parents and carers could remind students that behaviour in school may directly impact their ability to take part in the expedition section, which is compulsory for successful completion of the Award.
