AVA Strengthens Mobile Phone Policy
As part of our commitment to creating the best possible learning environment, AVA will be introducing a strengthened mobile phone policy from September 2026, in line with updated government expectations.
Under the revised policy, mobile phones that are seen or used during the school day will be confiscated, with increasing sanctions for repeat incidents. Parents and carers will be required to collect confiscated devices following each occurrence.
Further details of the updated policy will be shared with families by Mrs Jefford in the coming days.
The Academy is also exploring the introduction of lockable phone pouches from October. This approach would allow students to keep their phones with them during the day while ensuring they remain securely locked away until the end of the school day.
These changes form part of AVA's ambition to become a truly phone-free school, supporting student wellbeing, engagement and focus in lessons and around the Academy.
