Buckinghamshire Family Information Service
Buckinghamshire Council’s Family Information Service is a free, impartial source of information and signposting for local families. It helps parents, carers and young people find the right support by bringing together guidance, services and activities available across the county.
Alongside advice and information, the service also highlights a range of free courses and programmes designed to support families’ wellbeing and development. These include:
- Youthspace - support, courses and drop-ins for children and young people aged 7 to 19 (and up to 25 for young people with SEND).
- Free parenting programmes and courses (for a range of ages, from toddlers to teens), delivered through local Family Centres.
- Family Learning courses for parents and carers — including early years parent-and-child sessions (around 12 months to 5 years) and short online courses/workshops for parents of school-aged children.

Youthspace
Youthspace is Buckinghamshire Council’s dedicated information and support hub for young people, hosted within the Buckinghamshire Family Information Service.
Youthspace offer a range of virtual and face-to-face courses for young people aged 7 to 19 (and up to 25 for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)), designed to support wellbeing.
Courses run in the evenings and during school holidays and are participation-based, with an average group size of around 10.

How to Move up to Secondary School (Year 6)
Buckinghamshire Family Information Service (Youth Space) is offering How to Move up to Secondary School workshops and courses for children in Year 6 to help them feel prepared and confident about the move to secondary school.
The online two-hour workshop covers key information about starting secondary school. For children who feel they need more support, a five-week course is also available.
Topics include:
- what to expect at secondary school
- making new friends and dealing with peer pressure
- tackling fears and worries
- getting organised

Free support for parents and carers
Buckinghamshire Council’s Family Information Service run a variety of parenting programmes and courses for a range of ages. From toddlers to teens, they can give you advice, support and confidence to meet your child’s needs and reduce anxiety, stress and arguments at home.

Family Learning Courses
The Family Learning team run free, online courses and workshops across Buckinghamshire.
Their courses will help parents/carers understand how to support their children with their learning.
Courses will give you confidence and resources to support your children at home, making learning fun as well as understanding new teaching methods used in schools.
