OUR HOUSE SYSTEM

At the heart of our school community lies our House System — a vibrant, values-driven framework built on respect, aspiration, and resilience. It brings together every student, every tutor group, and every member of staff under a shared sense of belonging, pride, and purpose.

Our six houses are named after some of history's most remarkable and inspiring figures: individuals who changed the world through courage, compassion, curiosity, and conviction. These are not just names on a badge. They represent the values we aspire to live by every day — in our classrooms, in our corridors, and in the wider world.

Our Six Houses

โœŠ King House "Dream big, act justly." Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr., civil rights leader and one of the most powerful voices for equality the world has ever known. King House embodies the aspiration to dream beyond what seems possible, and the resilience to pursue justice even in the face of adversity.

๐ŸŒ Attenborough House — "Respect every living thing." Inspired by Sir David Attenborough, whose life's work has moved generations to love and protect the natural world. Attenborough House is rooted in respect — for each other, for our community, and for the planet we share.

๐Ÿ’ก Nightingale House — "Kindness in action." Inspired by Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing who transformed healthcare through science, compassion, and determination. Nightingale House stands for resilience in the face of challenge and the aspiration to always lead with kindness.

๐Ÿงช Curie House — "Knowledge lights the way." Inspired by Marie Curie, the only person in history to win Nobel Prizes in two different sciences. Curie House celebrates the aspiration to push boundaries, the resilience to keep going when things are hard, and a deep respect for the power of knowledge.

๐Ÿ’ป Turing House — "Keep thinking forward." Inspired by Alan Turing, the brilliant mathematician and codebreaker who helped end the Second World War and founded the principles of modern computing. Turing House stands for the aspiration to think differently, the resilience to challenge convention, and respect for every perspective.

โค๏ธ Seacole House — "Kindness is the best medicine." Inspired by Mary Seacole, a pioneering nurse who overcame racial prejudice to care for soldiers on the front line of the Crimean War. Seacole House is a testament to resilience, to respect for every human being, and to the aspiration to make a difference wherever you are.

A Community Built Together

Our House System was built from the ground up by our school community. The six figureheads were chosen through a vote involving over 1,000 students, parents, and staff — because we believe that respect starts with having a voice, and that aspiration is most powerful when it is shared.

Every student is assigned to a house through their tutor group, meaning the house system is woven into the everyday fabric of school life. Students and tutors share a house identity, compete together, and celebrate together.

Each week, tutor groups have the opportunity to earn points for their house through attendance, achievement, and positive conduct — ensuring that every student, in every year group, has a genuine stake in their house's success. Alongside these weekly challenges, houses compete in a growing calendar of competitions throughout the year, spanning sport, creativity, academia, and more. Every contribution matters, and every student has the chance to show respect, demonstrate resilience, and aspire to be their best.

Six Houses. One Community.

The House System is more than a competition. It is a reminder that our three core values — respect, aspiration, and resilience — are not ideals we simply admire, but ones we actively live out each day, together.

We are proud of the community we are building, and we are just getting started.
