Student Reflections: A Journey Through the Inspiration Program

As part of their personal development, our Year 12 students recently completed the Action4Youth Inspiration Programme—a unique and enriching initiative designed to broaden horizons, build confidence, and help young people explore a wide range of career paths and life skills.

The programme offers students real-world insights through guest speakers, interactive workshops, and visits to workplaces and community organisations. From learning about criminal investigations to exploring careers in heritage and environmental sectors, the Inspiration Programme encourages students to consider futures they may never have thought possible.

Two of our Year 12 students, Alex D and Hannah R, recently shared their experiences of taking part in the program -  “The Inspiration Program was an amazing experience that helped us explore a range of careers and opportunities, both locally and across the UK,” they said. “It opened our eyes to professions we hadn’t even considered before. We especially loved the chance to hear from guest speakers and go on trips to get a real feel for what those jobs are like.”

One of the standout moments for them was a visit to Waddesdon Manor, where they explored the historic site and its beautiful gardens. “We learned about the manor’s history and the variety of careers involved in running such a unique place,” they explained.

Another highlight was a criminal justice session, where a real-life detective shared one of his past cases: "It was so interesting to see how crimes are investigated and solved. It gave us a whole new appreciation for the work that goes into law enforcement.”

The program also included memorable visits to places like Great Moor House, NHBC, and a local charity farm. "The trips were definitely a highlight. They were a great break from the usual schoolwork and gave us the chance to learn about everything from history and the environment to what we might want to do after sixth form,” said Alex and Hannah.

As the program wrapped up, both students agreed it had a lasting impact: "It was nice to have something to look forward to each week, and we made so many great memories. We’d definitely recommend this program to future students—it’s a brilliant way to learn about life beyond school and prepare for what’s next.”
