Every Day in School Matters

Regular school attendance plays a huge part in your child’s learning, confidence and wellbeing. Being in school every day helps children build routines, friendships and the skills they need for the future.
We also know that sometimes things don’t go to plan and that’s where good communication with school really helps.
How parents can help
- Let us know as early as possible if your child is going to be absent. This helps us keep children safe and provide the right support.
- Explain the reason clearly when reporting an absence so we can understand how best to help.
- Keep in touch if your child is experiencing ongoing difficulties such as anxiety, medical needs, family challenges or changes at home.
- Work with us, attendance concerns are never about blame. Absence is often a sign that a child needs extra support.
Why communication matters
- Attendance is closely linked to achievement, wellbeing and safeguarding.
- Missing school can sometimes be an early warning sign that a child is struggling.
- When we know what’s happening, we can offer pastoral support, adjustments or referrals where needed.
Our shared expectations
- We have high expectations for attendance and punctuality for all pupils.
- We celebrate good and improved attendance across school.
- We are here to support families – attendance is a partnership between home and school.
If you’re ever unsure, worried, or need advice, please contact the school. No concern is too small, working together helps ensure every child feels safe, supported and ready to learn.
Every day counts.
Thank you for supporting your child’s attendance.
