A 'Marathon' Success - nearly £3,000 raised for Whiz Kids by Staff and Students
A 'Marathon' success - Miss Gibbs (Achievement Director for Year 8) successfully completes the London Marathon combined with fundraising activities by Year 8, raising nearly £3,000 for Whiz Kids.
Miss Gibbs (Achievement Director for Year 8) has had a very busy year – not content with training tirelessly for the London Marathon, she has also supported students in her year group who have been fundraising for Whizz-Kidz, a charity providing disabled children with wheelchairs and mobility equipment.
Many staff and students sponsored Miss Gibbs who completed the marathon in 5 hours and will raise over £2000 in sponsorship for Whizz-Kidz – an amazing effort.
Year 8 students have been fundraising for Whizz-Kidz throughout the year. They have also been running, completing a 5 km fun run in the Academy grounds. Students have also organized a cake sale and Easter egg raffle last term, raising £223.30 to date. Money from the most recent mufti day also contributed £684.01 so the total of the student fund raising (so far) is £871.31. A really big well done to everyone who has helped year 8 raise the money, and also to the year 8 students who have organised these events.
