Young Shakespeare Company Performance

Young Shakespeare Company Perform at AVA.

On 11th March, Year 10 and Year 11 had the privilege to watch a performance of Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth, live into main hall at AVA.  The performances followed a 30 minute workshop that saw the actors explaining how they approached the characters through their knowledge of when the play was set and how different interpretations of the play can be reflected through different ways of acting the roles.  There was some fantastic student participation too, with AVA students taking on the roles of banquet guests, murderers and Banquo’s son Fleance.

Students expressed how much they enjoyed the event, especially by gaining an insight into how an actor works to memorise their lines: a skill the students are hoping to mimic when they learn key quotations for their GCSE examinations on the text.
