A new pedestrian crossing is opened on the A41 Bicester Road near the junction of Jackson Road and Dickens Way by Cllr Ruth Vigor-Hedderly - BCC cabinet member for transportation.

A brand new £150,000 toucan crossing on Aylesbury’s Bicester Road means school children and cyclists can now get across the notoriously busy road more safely.

The crossing near the Jackson Road roundabout junction came about after a strong public petition and now offers a safer  method of crossing the road for the residents of nearby estates Quarrendon and Haydon Hill.

The Transport for Bucks project took just under a month to  complete and has linked both the existing Ruby Way cycle route along the Bicester Road to Dickens Way, which is towards the Emerald Way cycle route.

We are pleased that our collaboration with Bucks CC has resulted in the new Toucan Crossing and are confident that this will positively support our students’ journey to school.
