On Wednesday, 10th December, a group of 30 Year 9 students attended an enrichment trip to the Oxford University Science lectures, at the university’s natural history museum.

This awesome group of students included high performers from ICT, Maths and Science as well as consistently good performers from the year group.

The students were treated to a fascinating lecture on the benefits and dangers of social networks by a lively Oxford University  lecturer, who offered plenty of opportunities to earn some well-deserved Christmas goodies. He livened by the proceeding by challenging students with various questions on ICT. Even Mr Shaid won a prize for guessing the name of one of the actors on a poster of the classic spaghetti western, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

To finish, the Year 9s had a tour of the museum with a chance for some students to stroke some rather cute-looking cockroaches and some people like Sachin really got to know  what the inside of a T-Rex’s mouth looks like- when you’re its food!

All in all, it was a great trip which the students thoroughly enjoyed and deserved.

Mr N Shaid.
