Vision Statement

To improve the life chances of all the learners we serve at AVA

Mission Statement

Intent:

The Aylesbury Vale Academy Careers Department is committed to empowering students to explore and pursue their career aspirations. Our mission is to equip all students with the confidence, skills, and knowledge necessary to seize opportunities and create their own. We aim to help each student achieve their full potential by attaining the best qualifications and guiding them towards ambitious career pathways.

Implementation:

We believe that high-quality careers guidance and education programs play a crucial role in raising young people's aspirations. By bridging the gap between school activities and post-16 and post-18 life, we motivate students and provide them with a clear vision for their future. Our comprehensive career development program is accessible to all students, encompassing work-related learning, enterprise education, option choices, enriching trips, engaging assemblies, and interactions with external providers who offer valuable career and labour market information. Throughout the year, we offer ongoing careers guidance and collaborate with local businesses, colleges, and universities to provide real-world insights and opportunities.

Impact:

Our primary goal is to prepare students for further education, higher education, or skilled employment, enabling them to effectively apply the skills and knowledge gained in school. In our Sixth Form, we provide extensive support during university applications, higher-level apprenticeships, or alternative post-18 pathways. To achieve our mission, we:

  • Offer personalized guidance and resources, enabling students to explore various career options and make informed decisions about their future.
  • Provide comprehensive information on further and higher education opportunities, including universities, apprenticeships, and vocational training.
  • Assist students in developing essential employability skills through work-related learning and enterprise education initiatives, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Organize relevant trips, workshops, assemblies and events to expand students' horizons and expose them to diverse industries, professions, and workplaces.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, colleges, and universities to facilitate connections, work experience placements, and mentoring opportunities for our students.
  • Ensure students receive ongoing support throughout their academic journey, guiding them in option choices, career planning, and application processes.
  • Celebrate and recognize students' achievements, fostering confidence and self-belief academically and in extracurricular activities.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where students from diverse backgrounds feel empowered to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
  • Through these efforts, The Aylesbury Vale Academy Careers Department strives to enable every student to flourish, embrace their full potential, and embark on successful and fulfilling career paths. We measure our success by the positive impact we have on students' aspirations, achievements, and their ability to thrive in their chosen careers.
