The Aylesbury Vale Academy was opened in September 2009 and moved onto the Berryfields development in September 2013, where it incorporated Berryfields Church of England Primary School and extended its age range to become an all-through school from 3 to 18 years. The Academy is sponsored by the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education.

The Oxford Diocesan Board of Education currently operates in 283 schools across Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Berkshire and Oxfordshire, which includes 62 schools within Buckinghamshire.  It ensures that the Academy is both inclusive and distinctive and reflects the Church’s commitment to ensuring the best possible education for young people.

The Aylesbury Vale Academy is a company limited by guarantee and its governing documents are its memorandum and articles of association; together with a funding agreement, it has with the Secretary of State for Education.  The Academy is governed by its governing board, which comprises 9 persons appointed by the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education, 2 persons appointed by Buckinghamshire County Council, the Academy’s Executive Principal, a staff governor – the Primary Headteacher, a parent governor and up to 4 persons co-opted by the governing body.
