World Diabetes Day - Friday 14 November

November is recognised around the world as Diabetes Awareness Month, a tradition that dates back to 1975. On 14 November, it’s World Diabetes Day – chosen to mark the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who co-discovered insulin in 1921.

We invite our AVA community to pause and reflect on those living with diabetes.

For many, diabetes affects every part of daily life – at home, at work and in school. It means constantly thinking about food, activity, medication and how the body might respond. Even simple tasks can involve extra steps and decisions.

Living with diabetes can sometimes feel exhausting or overwhelming, and it isn’t always visible. So this month, let’s show understanding, kindness and support to those managing it every day.
