HOME LEARNING

Home Learning Activities – Friday 26 June 2026

We hope you are staying cool and keeping well hydrated during the hot weather. Below are today's home learning activities for each year group.

RECEPTION

First, reread The Smeds and the Smoos by Julia Donaldson (online versions are available, or you can watch it on BBC iPlayer).

Then, design your own rocket for Janet and Bill to run away in. This could be:

  • A drawing
  • A collage
  • A 3D model using junk modelling
  • A model made from building toys such as Lego

Feel free to upload a photo of your rocket to Evidence Me – we'd love to see your fantastic creations!

Next, read The Mixed-up Chameleon by Eric Carle (online versions are available, including the animated version HERE).

Afterwards, choose two animals and combine them to create a brand-new animal. For example, a dog and a turtle could become a 'dortle'!

Draw your new animal and think about:

  • Will it be half and half?
  • Will it have the body of one animal and the head or legs of another?
  • Will it have the colours of one animal or both?

Be as creative as you like! If you would like to, upload a photo of your creation to Evidence Me. We can't wait to see all of your amazing ideas!

Year 1 – Seasons (Summer)

In Year 1, we have been learning about the different seasons and are currently focusing on summer, including looking at the weather forecast and learning how to stay safe in the sun.

Please work through the PowerPoint presentation by clicking HERE. It includes information about summer, the weather forecast and ways to stay safe in the sun.

Once you have completed the PowerPoint, have a go at the following activities:

  • Task 1: Create a poster showing how to stay safe in the sun.

  • Task 2: Draw and write about the weather forecast for the upcoming week using the template provided HERE.

  • Task 3: Complete the quiz questions based on what you have learnt. The quiz sheet can be found HERE.

Have fun with your learning, and remember to stay cool, drink plenty of water and wear sun cream if you are spending time outdoors!
