ABOUT

At the Aylesbury Vale Academy we provide a wide variety of enrichment opportunities aimed to broaden student experiences outside of their timetabled subjects, develop life skills, build their cultural capital and embed a love of lifelong learning. 

The range of activities on offer include the chance for students to be involved in sports clubs, creative activities such as performing and producing art work or pursuing an academic interest such as creative writing or learning another language. We have a wide range of activities on offer to suit the varied interests of our students.


LATEST NEWS

Year 9 and 10 Lesson 6 commenced on Monday 12 September and all Year 9 and 10 students are expected to attend school until 4pm two times per week Monday to Thursday, to take part in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Students must attend these sessions with correct equipment and kit to be able to fully participate from Day 1. We are pleased to have such a broad variety of activities on offer and look forward to sharing with parent/carers updates over the next term.


OVERVIEW

Please see below for an overview of the Extended School offer for each year group:

YEARS 7 – 8

Students in the lower secondary phase have the option to attend a variety of sporting and creative enrichment activities. These are during lunchtime sessions or after school. Unless advised otherwise the after school enrichment will finish at 16:00.

YEAR 9 AND 10 LESSON 6 (COMPULSORY)

During the week from Monday – Thursday, all Year 9 and 10 students will take part in two enrichment activities, until 16:00, that they have chosen from our extensive range of activities.

Year 9’s will also have the opportunity to enrol onto the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.

Year 10’s will also have the opportunity to enrol onto the Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.

YEAR 11 EXTENDED SCHOOL DAY (COMPULSORY)

During the week from Monday – Thursday, the school day for all Year 11 students will run until 16:00, Monday to Thursday and 15:00 on a Friday. Students will complete a Period 6 lesson for their Core and Option subjects on a two-week timetable, as follows:

Monday – Week A– P6 Option C Subjects

Monday – Week B– P6 Option D Subjects

Tuesday – Week A– P6 Option A Subjects

Tuesday – Week B– P6 Option B Subjects

Wednesday - Week A– P6 English/Science

Wednesday – Week B– P6 Science/Maths

Thursday - Week A– P6 Maths/English

Thursday – Week B– P6 Maths/English


Year 7 & 8 Extra Curricular Activities

Summer Extra-Curricular
Please find below our summer Extra-Curricular timetable for Years 7 and 8. These summer sports will run for the duration of the summer term, with the potential for students to be involved in rounders, cricket, and athletic fixtures and events.

Tuesday Year 7 & 8 Rounders with Mrs Haynes and Mr Morgan (field)
Year 7 & 8 Tennis with Mr Smith (MUGA)
Wednesday Year 7 & 8 Badminton (softball when the Sports Hall is being used for exams) with Mr Lobb (Sports Hall/field)
Year 7 & 8 Cricket with Mr Wakefield and Mr Morgan (Astro)
Thursday Year 7 – 10 Body Fitness with Mrs Crumpton (Dance Studio)
Year 7 & 8 Athletics with Mr Smith and Miss Gibbs (Field)
