Fixture Results 2019-2020
Friday 28 February | U13 and U15 Girls Cricket Tournament
Today the U13 and U15 girls cricket teams attended the Buckingham Lady Taverners Indoor Cricket competition hosted by Sir Thomas Fremantle. The U13s finished 4th and the U15s finished 3rd. It was a very well organised and smoothly run day, the girls really enjoyed it and showed off their fantastic fielding, bowling and batting. Well done to all the students who attended today’s tournament.
Wednesday, 26 February 2020 | Yrs 7 and 8 Dodgeball, Buckingham
The Year 7 and 8 team played in their first-ever Dodgeball competition and they placed 4th! The girls worked together amazingly and showed fantastic improvement from start to finish. We are very happy with how we have played as a team and it was a very enjoyable tournament!
Monday 11 November | U13 & U15 Badminton AVA vs Cottesloe
AVA played host to The Grange in a badminton fixture and it is fair to say AVA have made a smashing start to the badminton season.
The Under 13 girls (yr7/8) battled well and showed good progress throughout the fixtures however were convincingly beaten in the end by a more experienced Grange side.
The Under 13 boys (yr7/8) served up classic with nearly all the matches being very close. The boys did extremely well winning 4-3 overall.
Not to be outdone the Under 15 boys (yr9/10) also won 4-3 in some exciting games of badminton.
However, it was the Under 15 girls (yr9/10) who really dominated the evening as they won 6 of their 7 matches.
All the pupils demonstrated great commitment and skill, and also showcased outstanding officiating skills.
Following on from the success against The Grange, AVA hosted Cottesloe in the next round of fixtures.
Despite battling well and showing progress the U13 girls came up against some more experienced Cottesloe players who took the win, 7-0.
The U13 boys played some very good badminton however feel just short of the win as Cottesloe won 4-3, in some exciting games of badminton.
The U15 girls continued on in fine form winning 5-2, displaying some outstanding play in both the singles and doubles matches.
Despite losing 7-0 the U15 boys often took Cottesloe to the wire and twice lost out when the scores went above 21 points, losing by 2 clear points.
Next up AVA host Waddesdon on 12th December.

Monday 20 January 2020 | Year 10 Netball vs. Akeley Wood
The year 10 netball team showed real determination and responded incredibly well to feedback given, as the girls scored 10 points in the last two quarters and only conceded 5. The final score was a 16-10 defeat. Each student showed great character to finish the game so positively! Well done.

Monday 10 February 2020 | U15 Girls Football Tournament at Sir Henry Floyd
The U15 girls football team has been absolutely brilliant this year, the girls have continued to improve and showcase their talent. The U15 team has grown in numbers and interest, leading to the team blossoming over the year. AVA entered 2 teams into a football tournament hosted by Sir Henry Floyd and both teams displayed fantastic dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm to do the best they could. The B team placed 6th whilst the A team finished 3rd. Amazing efforts all round!

Tuesday 21 January 2020 | U15 Girls vs Thornton
The U15 girls are undefeated this year so far! The girls played their first 11-aside fixture against Thornton, who have played a couple of 11-aside games. The girls showed great character and resilience to win 3-0. The team worked collaboratively to ensure they wasn’t caught offside and that all students knew their formations and positions. It was an exciting experience for the girls and we are very proud of their achievement. We look forward to our future fixtures and new challenges.

Wednesday 18 December | U13 and U15 Girls Football
The U13 and U15 Girls football team played against Waddeson on 18th December and what a way to finish the term! The U13s won 8-1 and the U15s won 8-0, both teams had a solid performance and have showed such progression and improvement since the start of the term! Well done girls!
Monday 25 November 2019 | U13 Girls Football District Competition
The Aylesbury Vale Academy U13 girls participated in the district football competition held at Sir Henry Floyd. This competition was an indoor 5-aside tournament and the winners of this tournament get the opportunity to compete in the Nationals football competition. AVA entered 2 teams of which were an A side and a B side. Both teams happened to be in the same league for the competition and had the pleasure of playing against each other which showed a real edge in competitive spirit. The A team were unfortunate not to qualify for the final, but they were close as they only needed one more win.
Well done to the U13 girls football team, who all played fantastically and showed progression, dedication and motivation. I look forward to us making a further impact in our upcoming fixtures

The Year 7 and 8 girls football team played an 11 v 11 match against John Colet in the blistering cold. The girls showed fantastic spirit and worked amazingly together as a team! Well done to all who played! Also a big thank you to our 4 year 10 sport leaders who stayed to help warm up, referee, score and run the line!
