Key Stage 2
In Key Stage 2 pupils continue to follow a challenging and engaging curriculum with a strong focus on literacy and language, which contributes to increased rates of progress for our pupils.
A continued topic based approach to much of the curriculum helps the children to apply and make sense of their learning and to make connections between different subjects, whilst constantly reinforcing and practising key skills, such as reading, writing and numeracy taught in their daily literacy, phonics and mathematics sessions.
Additionally, the school works closely with colleagues from the secondary phase to utilise the skills of subject specialist staff to work with both pupils and teachers and to share best practice from both phases. This joint working has the twin aims of ensuring pupils achieve well above national expectations in KS2 and that they may continue to make rapid progress as they move towards and into the secondary phase.
Long-term curriculum maps are available below. Details about the end of year expectations for Key Stage 2 are available from our Support for Parents page.
